During high intensity exercise, adrenaline helps your heart ramp up the pumping of blood and it can also cause the liver to release more glucose into circulation than the muscle can absorb causing a temporary glucose spike.
Spikes can also occur during moderate or lower intensity workouts if adrenaline is released.
Exercise spikes are beneficial as exercise and intense training can improve both fasting glucose and insulin sensitivity over time; each of these adaptations lead to better metabolic flexibility and glucose control.
If you exercise:
- Be sure to log the exercise event so that Lingo Count won’t be counted against you during this time.
- Lingo Count values from exercise spikes (during exercise and up to 30 minutes before and after) will not be added to your daily target.
- Consider connecting to Apple HealthKit to automatically log exercise which removes any accrued Lingo Count.
If you want to manually remove Lingo Count from an event, follow these steps:
- Tap the + button below the spike on the Lingo Graph
- Select “Remove Lingo Counts” and follow prompts

- Tap the pencil next to any event in your Journal
- Select “Remove Lingo Counts” from the menu and follow the prompts
